In order to analyze the needs of L2 teachers and migrants there were:
- Elaborated 2 different Questionnaires in English language: one for L2 teachers and one for migrants, then translated in 6 different languages (German, Italian, Spanish, Modern Greek, Czech and Lithuanian).
- Interviewed (with the Questionnaires) 10 L2 teachers in each country (total of 70 teachers). All of them have been teaching host country’s language as a second language from 2 to 17 years at private or public language courses, universities and schools.
- Interviewed (with the Questionnaires) 40 migrants in each country (total of 280 migrants).
- The questionnaires were collected and the information was elaborated.
It should be emphasized that both the questioned groups – the teachers and migrants have chosen identical relevant topics for the new teaching material “L-Pack” and skills that should be developed in the language instruction. The need analysis evidenced that the structure of the L-Pack manual must maintain the following list of topics:
- Authorities
- Communication
- Family and Socialising
- Health
- Job Hunting
- Leisure Time
- Looking for Accommodation
- School
- Self Education
- Shopping
- Travelling
- Working Life
So focusing on the given skills and introducing topics connected to jobs and work in particular will be accepted by migrants and it may help them in developing their language competence.
